Border Patrol Station

Challenge & Success

This was by far one of the most challenging projects Ja-Mar Roofing & Sheet Metal had taken on. It was a bonded U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project with strict safety requirements, extensive compliance procedures, and a lengthy vetting process before workers could even access the job site.

The scope of work included a complete roof tear-off, installation of new insulation, and a fully adhered Carlisle 80 mil TPO roofing system. The project also required intricate 24-gauge stainless-steel copings and flashings. In one area, our crews had to completely remove a mansard wall to access the roofing underneath and then rebuild the wall after the new roofing system was installed.

Another challenge surfaced when electrical lines were found too close to the underside of the roof deck. Those areas had to be carefully located and addressed by fully adhering the insulation rather than mechanically attaching it as we did throughout other portions of the roof.

The combination of federal requirements, site-access procedures, specialized flashing work, and unexpected field conditions made this a demanding commercial roofing project. When all was said and done, Ja-Mar installed a complete roofing system built to meet the demanding requirements of the facility and backed by a Carlisle 20 Year Golden Seal Total Roofing System Warranty.
